What movie is this from?

I know that the movie is about a little dog. He's a puppet, and well,
he's not actually that little. His master is dark skinned, and the dog
wears glasses. His name is Eddie or something. And during his
Christmas play, instead of saying, They brought gold, frankincense,
and mhyrr, he said, Moldy Frankfurturs and Fur.

All i remember.

I also remember him having a nightmare or something. Haha, well, it's
an old movie, like late 70s or 80s.
